WWDC talks

Jens writes about preparing to speak at WWDC. I'm going through the same thing these days, spending lots of time preparing for my session while still trying to find time to work on the things I'm supposed to be working on. It's hard.

The net result is that my half of a presentation is still a bit behind where Jens seems to be. My content isn't quite done yet, but it's close. Like Jens' presentation, mine's one of the "Session to be announced" placeholders, specifically the one at 9 a.m. Wednesday in The Presidio. I'm looking forward to it -- I like public speaking, at least when I'm talking about something I know very well -- but that won't keep me from being a bit nervous.

Whatever happens, though, it can't be worse than the point near the beginning of last year's presentation when I switched over to Ronnie for the next step in the talk and his screen didn't come on. I stood on stage for a few minutes not really knowing what to do next as someone from the stage crew fiddled with enough cables to get it to work. It's just me this time around (at least for my half of the presentation), so that exact problem can't happen again. Maybe I'll have the fire alarm go off instead, as happened when I was speaking at MacHack one year....
