Stardust

I saw a preview screening of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust tonight. It opens nationwide August 10th.

It was terrific. I just couldn’t stop smiling — so many parts of the movie were done well, or really funny, or had interesting twists that worked out great. I think people will love it, and I hope lots and lots of people see it.

I’ve always loved the book, and when I saw the trailers I was worried that the movie wouldn’t convey the same magic the book does. It turns out that the trailers just don’t do the movie justice. The movie is different from the book in a variety of ways, but both are magical. I think I may even like the movie version more. Quite a few people said afterwards that they hadn’t read the book but loved the movie.

Good. I also loved the book, and worried that they couldn’t do it justice as a movie.

Oooh, I’m jealous. ‘Stardust’ is such a good book, and I’m really excited for the movie.

I’m trying to decide whether I should re-read the book before the seeing the film, or waiting until afterwards.

We just got a babysitter and had a chance to see it. I agree with your comments above - well done, charming, and a very keen date movie for two happy parents.
