Why I won’t be a Google investor

I was thinking of explaining why any thought of investing in the Google IPO is irrational, but the Motley Fool beat me to it.

When it was just rumors I was considering it, I have done a bit of this sort of thing before. Once I read the S-1 I decided against it. Based on a whole bunch of things they can alter during the bidding process its going to be very hard to correctly estimate what your really bidding on.

The more interesting question has to do with derivatives trading. Google will be very volatile, so if you are into technical analysis and have an incredibly strong stomach there is a ton of money to be had no matter how this thing goes. While I am not quite up to that sort of shit, now I am curious how long between the stock issuance and options start trading at the CBOE, since the last time I was involved in an IPO was before did any derivatives trading. For something like google, I bet they start trading between when the price is set and the shares are actually issued.
