ADHOC registration troubles
Maybe the trick with MacHackADHOC is that you have to hack your way in. The registration forms have no way to sign up for anything other than a student rate (or, if you’re a speaker, no rate at all). That’s a bit disturbing given that their initial registration period expires on Friday. Hmph.
It’s weird how I’m sort of torn about going this year. Every time I think about it, I think, “Wow, that’s a dumb name.” Then I point out to myself that the name of a conference has nothing to do with how enjoyable the conference is, and if it’s like past MacHacks I’ll have a lot of fun. So I’m almost certainly going, but I’ll still insist that the name is a bad choice. And that it’s really tough to attend a conference that you can’t register for. (Or to speak at one for which the speaker coordinator doesn’t reply to email, but that’s another story.)
Update: Alexei has some comments, too. Hopefully the folks in charge will be able to clean everything up soon and make it possible for both of us to attend.

I think everything has been fixed with the ADHOC conference website (Dave P., Wolf and I have been going through it and trying to find & repair problems), but if you can think of anything else that I can add to the website to help sell it to attendees, definitely suggest it to me.
Some of the problems came about because of the change in the conference name (and getting everything coordinated under the new domain, mailing lists, etc.), other problems came about because the one webmaster got overloaded with things to do (all rock stars have day jobs, right?) and so other volunteers (like myself) have to assist whenever I can make the time.
The next thing I’m hoping to get on the site is a list of speakers and sessions. I’d be thrilled to get more names onto the speakers list, so if you have any ideas or topics for sessions, please e-mail me and I’ll make sure the word gets passed along to the right people in the sessions group (plus I’m the guy putting together the pages for speakers & sessions).
Hope this helps!
